I wrote this article back during the time when Covid was at it's peak, and I wanted to share it with you again. Perhaps it will bless you today:
Well it’s September 17th, 2021 and tonight I want to share some thoughts with you today about what’s going on in our world right now and also what I believe God is doing. For me, it’s been a week filled with a lot of reflecting, as I lost two dear long-time friends to cancer this week, each of them only one day apart. I am a bit surprised at how it is affecting me, as I have been thinking a lot about my own mortality. I am getting to an age that I can’t take for granted that I will have tomorrow on this earth, just like my friends were. These women have been in my life for a long time…and in a matter of only a few short months, they are gone. And in fact, I am hearing about of whole lot of people who are dying lately, and if you’ve been keeping up with what’s going on in the world, you have been hearing about it too.
I’m sure you will agree that the last year and a half has challenged people in ways we never dreamed, and for many people it’s bringing about discouragement and depression and that is to be understood. Sometimes it feels like life will never get back to “normal” and it’s hard to imagine what normal would even look like anymore. It’s true Friends…life is different…the world is different…and I’m not sure it will ever be the same as it was again.
But I’m not on here tonight to make you depressed. There’s plenty of that around already. But I came here tonight to encourage you and to build you up in your faith. I want you to think about this question…and please be honest with yourself about it. How have YOU personally changed in the last year and a half? What has God done in your life to make you a better person…a better Christian?
I meet with some women online for Bible study and Prayer Time every week, and part of our discussion has been about how much we have changed for the good since the Covid lock-downs began. I have one dear friend on there that, watching her week by week is like watching a flower bloom…she has grown so much right before my eyes. God has given her a powerful burden to pray, and when she begins to intercede for people and nations, MAN…there is power in her prayers that I never heard from her before. It’s amazing and wonderful. Another dear friend is growing in her faith and interceding for friends and loved ones in a powerful way. And for me…it’s like every time I pick up my Bible and start reading, the Holy Spirit is giving me revelation into God’s Word like I have never experienced before. It’s amazing what God can do with us when He can get us to sit still in His presence and seek Him and watch and listen for His input. And I am watching Christians all over the nation and even in the world are moving into position to fulfill the purpose that God created them to fulfill. And Friends, I believe that when God gets us through this difficulty, we will be able to rejoice in the goodness of God and we will be so glad for the time that He has cared enough to pull us aside and teach us to be stronger in the Holy Spirit and Bolder in our love and testimony. What I want you to know Friends, is that God is so faithful. Even when it seems He is far away and He doesn’t hear us or know who we are…God is faithful still…and He will NEVER stop being faithful! King David said a very wise statement and it is found in the 37th Psalm verse 25. He said, “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.”
Let me just encourage you tonight Friends…take this time that God has given you and make the most of it. Read and study the Word of God…spend enormous amounts of time in communion with Him. Enjoy your friends and family. God is preparing you for a greater work than you have ever imagined. Remember that every great man or woman of God has some time in their lives when they are pulled aside to just seek Him. Though we see much pain going on around us, we know where our hope is found. We can rely on Jesus to bring us to the end of our journey with great power and great victory. Yes…we are going to lose some friends and loved ones along the way. God never intended for this life to last forever. But we can rejoice with them and we can know that whatever comes our way…we will have eternity to praise the God who brought us through. He has not forgotten you Friends…and when you come out of this time that we all have been going through…you will be better than ever, and you will KNOW that God is faithful.
I’d like to pray with you right now if I may. Please bow your heads with me:
Father, we are so thankful for your Faithfulness. Lord, we
see in scripture that every time the people went through great difficulty, we
also see how they grew in their devotion and their service to You…and we are
seeing that right now in our own lives. Many people are turning to You Lord,
and we are so grateful for that. Even in the midst of everything that is going
on in the world, help us to keep our eyes on the fact that You are still hard
at work drawing people all over the world unto Jesus for the saving of their
souls. Help us to also be faithful to You Lord. Help us to seek You more
diligently, help us to share the Gospel more boldly, and help us to draw closer
to You than we have ever been before. We love you Lord, and we are looking for
you to do a mighty work in and through Your people. We thank you for always
being with us and caring for us and keeping us safe through the difficult
times. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Thank you for sharing this few minutes with me friends. God
bless you and stay close to Him. He loves you so much. Bye for now and be
blessed.
